Mongero Monday #19 with guest, Brian Kowitz, a Former Professional Baseball Player for Atlanta. Brian had the opportunity to come up with some of the best in the organization and was able to observe the separators in those athletes.

- If you’re young go outside and play wiffle ball/stick ball. That is where you learn the most.
- Throw the ball against the wall.
- How to approach the game like a big leaguer.

- “I was willing to work harder, I was just looking for what my work was”.
- Game situation experience.
- “I have to dig deep and say, you know, all right, I think I can do this”.
- “I think you only grow when you’re uncomfortable and that’s when real growth takes place during your discomfort”.

- “How I would approach my drill was very very intense and was always 100 percent”.
- Speed training, weight lifting, plyometrics.
- “It’s very important to surround yourself with players/coaches who are going to make you a better player”.
- Leadership.
- It’s all mindset…you have to believe in yourself.
- Make the right decisions…do the right things.
- Be where your feet are.
- Don’t get ahead of yourself.
- Dominate.
- “Hitting comes and goes but one constant is defense.”
- Versatility plays a big factor.
- Mindset, intent, dominate.
- “I want a player who is ready on every pitch”.
- Speed, quickness, good reads.
- What are you doing when the coach is not watching?
- What’s your approach when it comes to hitting and defense?
- Confidence is critical.
- “A lot of self talk a lot of internal conversations with yourself”,
- Mental fortitude, mental strength
- Stop worrying about what others are thinking and focus on the main thing.
- Nobody cares….put your head down and work.
- Perspective.
- When things aren’t going your way, be a: good teammate, have good body language, play hard.
- Enjoy your time because when it’s taken away there is nothing you can do to get it back.
- Why are those guys elite?
- They all work their butt off.
- Repetition, Repetition, Repetition
- Compete…Compete….Compete
- Talk to yourself in a positive way and believe in yourself.
- Don’t try to over complicate things.
- Competitiveness, hunger, i’m going to win this battle.
- You gotta be happy wherever you are…if that’s on the field, in the cage or in the weightroom.
