Brian Mitchell is a co-founder of Trosky Ranch. Mitchell is a former professional baseball player, four year starter at the University of Iowa where he was an All-Big Ten performer. Mitchell led the BIG10 in homeruns in 1997 and set the career homeruns record. Mitchell has been involved in baseball from the day he was released from the Toronto Blue Jays where he co-founded Diamond Dreams, an indoor sports academy in Iowa. Mitchell became a high school baseball coach in 2012 at his alma mater, Iowa City High, where he has built a youth and high school program from the ground up. Mitchell was a successful hitter, but struggled with the mental game of defense. Infield play has been a passion of his because of these struggles. He also has two high school aged players, one of which has played two years for his high school program. This experience also helps to help translate the challenges of coaching your own kids. Additionaly, as a high school coach, it has been a passion of his to develop a system from the youth levels up. Having a system for infielders to develop at a young age has been of significant value for when they reach high school. Knowing the time constraints a high school coach has with their players, having efficient drills and mental game information, Mitchell is able to share with coaches how he has had success with this.
